SCHLOSSPLATZ. This medieval castle with a Renaissance-style courtyard was built in the 10th century and was expanded in the early-14th and late-16th centuries under the name "Old Palace." The castle today houses the Wurttemberg State Museum. In addition, it's the site of theatre performances, summer concerts, and the annual Christmas Market.

This large and beautiful statue in the center of the Schlossplatz pedestrian zone commemorates the German victory in the war of 1814. Surrounded by two mesmerizing fountains, the statue sits in front of Wilhelmspalais and is a popular meeting spot for locals. Have a resident read the inscription that describes the crushing victory of the 19th century army.

This historic television tower stands high above the city and offers sweeping views of the bustling center below. On-site dining and a modern terrace are also part of the tour at the top of the tower. It is one of the more popular contemporary sites in the city due to the fact that you can check out views of the city and countryside for miles.

This classical building in the main Schlossplatz was built in the mid-19th century and displays excellent workmanship and architectural flair. Today, the building is used by the regional stock exchange. Open for walking tours daily. A must-see during a stroll along the central platz.

The French-styled New Palace is one of the more popular sightseeing locales in the city. The palace was built from the 1746 to 1807 and was rebuilt between 1958 and 1968. View the royal staterooms, the outer square that forms the Schlossplatz pedestrian district, and the artistic mobile. Interesting sculptures, art, and statuary are some of the attractions.
